Our group theory courses are designed to help students achieve a deeper understanding of how music works and why! These classes are geared to adults interested in helping themselves or their children, as well as teens looking towards applying to music degree programs, but are open to anyone. Staff paper, pencil, and an eraser will be provided. Each student should bring a three ring binder to hold handouts from class!
Theory I:
This class is focused on the fundamentals of music, and is recommended for anyone looking for a jumpstart or a refresh in their musical journey!
In this class you should expect to learn about:
Standard Notation, Major Scales, Simple Rhythms, Notes on the Keyboard, Notes on the Staff, Intervals, Chord qualities, and more!
Theory II:
This class builds on the principles introduced in our Theory I course and dives into topics such as Transposition, Transcription, Complex Rhythm, Solfege, Minor Scales, Cadences, Musical Analysis and more!
